CFRZ CORE PROGRAM

Our Core program runs from September through April, with optional (though encouraged) summer training camps and opportunities. This program is targeted at athletes who are starting to compete at Provincial series freestyle ski events, up to competing at an athlete’s first Canada Cup for Slopestyle and Halfpiipe. Big Mountain events typically include local IFSA Junior events.

Weekly trampoline sessions, airbag, and strength & conditioning define the fall training we implement to set our athletes up for success when the snow falls. Once winter hits, we ski Saturdays at Lake Louise, and Monday and Wednesday evenings at Canada Olympic Park in Calgary, plus the occasional Sunday session in Calgary pending competition schedules and venue availability.

Targeted competitions will be confirmed to athletes once the event calendars are released by the organizers (typically mid-late fall), but generally include all Provincial level SS/HP competitions, Junior Nationals, and 3 to 4 Junior freeride events.

Fees

Team fees for this program are $2,950 per year. This covers:

  • Regular on snow coaching (Saturdays at Louise, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at COP, Sunday at COP when offered)

  • Fall trampoline and dryland coaching

  • Competition coaching at all targeted competitions

  • Winter airbag access at COP

Fees do not include:

  • Facility access (e.g. lift tickets, air bag fees, trampoline fees), with the exception of winter air bag at COP

  • Travel to venues

  • Freeride competition insurance surcharge (optional)

  • FC/FA membership

  • Competition entry fees

  • Summer training, which is billed a la carte

Coach competition travel costs

Provided the club receives adequate fundraising support, a portion or all of the coach competition travel expenses will be paid for from the club’s coffers, and not be invoiced to athletes. However, athletes should be prepared to pay a share of coach competition travel expenses when committing to this program, as fundraising amounts won’t be confirmed until late fall/early winter.
